Effective date: August 31, 2026

This statement explains how technical stewardship, resident governance, institutional authority, venue operations, content rights, and software ownership remain distinct across International House New York (IHNYC) Service Docs, House Desk, and Pub.

It describes the public operating boundary. It does not amend a contract, create an agency or partnership, or replace an applicable institutional policy or formal agreement. If those sources conflict with this page, the controlling agreement or policy prevails.

Summary

  • Affective Technologies LLC owns, builds, operates, and stewards the technology and public technical documentation described here. That technology is Affective Technologies’ intellectual property.
  • IHNYC Resident Council governance, voting, council decisions, and council-operated workflows remain separate from this service documentation.
  • International House New York retains its own institutional authority, policies, name, and trademarks.
  • Authorized Pub operators remain responsible for venue and staffing decisions; software supports those decisions but does not become the venue authority.
  • Resident, patron, staff, institutional, and third-party content remains subject to the rights and policies of its source.

Relationship notice

Affective Technologies is an independent technical steward. It is not the IHNYC Resident Council, International House New York, AVI Foodsystems, a separate food-service organization, or their agent or representative.

Ownership and rights

Intellectual property of Affective Technologies LLC

IHNYC Service Docs, House Desk, Pub, and the shared platform beneath them were created by Affective Technologies LLC and are its intellectual property. Affective Technologies reserves all rights not expressly granted in writing.

Data stewardship

Affective Technologies applies the following principles to these services:

  • Purpose limitation: use information for the resident, patron, staff, venue, security, or operational purpose for which it was provided.
  • Data minimization: exchange only the information an integration or role needs.
  • Product separation: House Desk subscriptions, Pub operations, and shared staff identity remain distinct records and permission systems.
  • Least privilege: a verified identity receives no product action until that product grants it.
  • Human responsibility: publication, moderation, and staffing decisions remain attributable to an authorized person.
  • Public/private separation: publish presentation-ready information, not source records, private notes, credentials, or protected audit history.
  • Accountability: preserve appropriate change and security history without turning it into public content.

The Privacy Policy describes the information handled by each service in more detail.

  • For Resident Council governance, use the Council’s official channel.
  • For institutional policy or use of an International House name or mark, contact the institution through its official channel.
  • For an immediate venue or safety issue, contact on-site staff or the appropriate emergency service rather than relying on a software form.
